La conspiración de Cáñam:

In the 1895 5th edition of Meyer's Konversations Lexikon which I inherited from my grandfather, one can read about all kinds of hemp for different uses. There you'll find where the best quality hemp is grown for sails, clothes, rope, sacks, paper, decoration, oils, etc. Its narcotic properties are mentioned only briefly and primarely in the context of pest control. The lexicon was actually printed on hemp paper and that's why the pages of my copy haven't disintegrated after over a hundred years. The book also states that Cannabin and Hashish are extracted for medicinal purposes from the larger dried leaves of the Indian Hemp (Bhang and Gunjah). In 1859, the production of hemp in the USA was estimated to be over 74,000 tons. Why did one of the most amazing and useful plants on earth become illegal? If you want to know, read the books, "Hemp & The Marihuana Conspiracy" and "The Emperor Wears No Clothes" published for the first time in 1985 by Jack Herer. I have read the 1995 German translation which probably contributed to a rethinking of drug policies in Europe. Today you'll find hemp-stores in most European cities offering all kinds of products. Medical doctors there are taking advantage of the many benefits of this plant. Once again, farmers are allowed to cultivate the soil-improving hemp plant.

Hemp is not only one of the most amazing plants, but according to Jack Herer, it might very well be the plant that could save humanity. One hectare of hemp produces 8 times more paper than one hectare of forest and at a far superior quality. This 2m to 6m tall plant grows its roots up to 6m deep into the ground. The plant prevents erosion, improves the soil and cleans the air. Since the beginning of the Roman Empire, sails, nets for fishing, ropes, and much more have been made from hemp. Henry Ford even had the technology to build car bodies from hemp!

Over the past 3000 years, marihuana (the oldest cultivated plant on earth) has been used to cure a long list of ailments. Between 1842 and 1900, about 60% of all medicines included Cannabis extract (Hashish) as an ingredient. Back then, California State University professor William Emboden created the official list of recommended uses of Hashish in the USA as a remedy for: Fatigue, Cough, Rheumatism, Asthma, Delirium tremens, Migraine, Menstrual pains, Cramps and Depression. Even Queen Victoria 1837 - 1901 used Hashish to ease her menstrual pains.

Scientific research has demonstrated its therapeutic values and the absence of side-effects. Marihuana is not addictive yet how many people sit in jail for its use? According to the Bureau of Mortality Statistics from the National Institute of Drug Abuse and the center of desase contro CDC , 5,000,000 people die every year because of smoking, 2,500,000 because of alcohol abuse, 37,000 of legal drugs. Of the estimated 78,000 deaths in 2010 because of illegal drug use, more than half were because of painkiller addictions. The use of Aspirin kills 40,000, and 83,670 died in 2010 of adverse effects of medical treatment, and zero because of just Marihuana smoking (not driving a car beeing high). Statistically, death directly from marijuana overdose is extremely rare. The CDC reports that between 1999 and 2007, there were 26 deaths with marijuana as an underlying cause, in the United States. This was out of a counted population of 2,615,523,905.

So what in the world happened? The commercial interests of oil-magnate and banker Mellon, the wood-paper manufacturer and media-king Hearst and the Chemistry giant and General Motors owner Du Pont (who produced the recently developed additives to make wood-paper and plastic) created the new Federal Bureau of Narcotics (FBN) which then was staffed by the same Mellon and his cousin Harry Anslinger. They, in collaboration with the propaganda machine of the Catholic Church, were able to brain-wash the population of many countries. They created the fantastic horror-stories about the "killer drug" called marihuana. see picture

Europe is now slowly recovering from this incredible fraud on nature, environment, humanity and health. Unfortunately, the big financial winners here are the Mafia, and the Chemical Industry which caused much of our deforestation and who at that time were able to introduce the addictive drugs known as Heroin, Morphine and Cocaine. Congratulations!
